Trust No One is about Cade Taylor, a South Florida Vice Intelligence Narcotics (VIN) undercover Detective. Set in 1998, when cell phones and computers were just starting to become household items, Cade gets summoned to a crime scene where he discovers one of his confidential informants (CI’s) was brutally murdered with Cade’s business card in his pocket. Unsure if this macabre calling card was a message to Cade that he’s next or perhaps an effort to implicate him, Cade nonetheless, is concerned.
Trust No one is fun new addition to local crime thrillers, taking place in and around Miami, Florida. Michael Hearns clearly writes from experience, passion, and love of his city. His writing put me on those city streets with Cade, speeding through neighborhoods, on a mission of life and death. Utilizing terms, codes, police etiquette, proper terminology and overall authentic writing from someone who knows this world because he’s lived it for decades. What we get is a debut novel with a Blast Radius of a MOAB! An 8/10 Lima Charlie Rating.
